PALO, Melvin Richard - age 90, of Swartz Creek, died Friday, June 18, 2010. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 402 S. Ballenger Highway, Flint with Pastor Steve Maske officiating. Interment will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-4 PM Sunday and 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Swartz Creek Veteran's Memorial or Michigan's Own Military and Space Museum. Mr. Palo was born May 2, 1920 in Flint, the son of Michael and Hilja (Ekland) Palo. He married Rose Niebur on September 1, 1946. Mr. Palo was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. He was a paratrooper that jumped at Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge earning a Bronze Star, Silver Battle Star and an Oak Leaf Cluster. Mr. Palo worked in auto collision and estimation for Summerfield Chevrolet for 25 years and Belford (now, Waldron's). He had a passion for golf and was a Junior Golf Leader. Mr. Palo also was a runner and participated in the Allied Countries Olympics winning a Silver Medal during World War II. Surviving are: wife, Rose; three children, Kurt (Jacqueline) Palo of Linden, Kristine (Francisco) Garcia of Holt, Mark Palo of Swartz Creek; two granddaughters, Alicia Garcia of Miami, FL and Elizabeth Garcia of Holt; grandson, Steven (Raquel) Runge of Spring, TX; great-grandson, John Phillip Runge; niece, Darlene Quinn. ROCHELLE Richard Kris Math Krizsanitz, 84, Rochelle, passed away on Sunday, July18, 2010 at Serenity House in Oregon.
He was born on July 22, 1926 in Evanston to Matyas and Elizabeth (Polich) Krizsanitz.
Richard married Shirley Ann Godemann on Aug. 6, 1955 in Morton Grove. Prior to retiring he was employed by Medinah Country Club. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Evelyn (an infant) and Elsie Saleski.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Rochelle; two sons, Kenneth (Jean) Krizsanitz of McHenry and Mike (Joyce) Krizsanitz of Franklin Grove; and three grandchildren, Kenneth, James and Karl.
Memorial services will be held at Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. Sixth St., Rochelle, on Saturday, July 31 at 11 a.m. with Chaplain Judy Williams officiating. Cremation rites were arranged by Unger-Horner.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Ogle County Hospice.
